Study Help

I sometimes struggle with regular scripture reading. I know it's important. I enjoy it when I do it, but sometimes I allow life to get in the way. However, I love to follow a plan and although it may seem quite the opposite, I actually like someone telling me what to do. Sssshhh! Don't tell anyone, else everybody will be bossing me around.

So, today as I was eating my Special K (one of my most favorite cereals - excluding Weetabix and Ready Brek) I was playing around on the web and googled for what LDS scripture to read that day. And that's when I discovered this wonderful site. I LOVE IT!!!!

It's called Read The Scriptures. You can sign up (for free) and set up a reading schedule. Maybe you want to read the New Testament or the Ensign. Maybe you want to catch up on your General Conference talks, Seminary Reading or Preach My Gospel. You select what text you're interested in and then decide how long of a time period you want to set as a goal to complete it. Then it will email you everyday with your reading assignment. You can either read it in your actual book of scriptures or online, or if you're like me and like to knit (or can't keep your mind focused if your hands aren't busy), you can select Audio and sit and listen while you read along and knit. You can highlight text, make notes, journal. It's so stinking cool.

One of the things the site offers is for a reading team. This is where you all come in. Do you want to join in with me and read the scriptures together. What shall we read? New Testament, Old Testament, Doctrine and Covenants... Leave me a comment or email me and we'll set up a reading team. It will be fun to do this together. Obviously I plan on having my individual study, but thought an added group study would be a fun thing to do with friends.

Well, now I'm off to cook some Chili as we have a lovely storm blowing in. I'm serious - I think it's lovely - 8 - 12 inches of the white stuff and temps expected 20 below. Ethan and I have been singing Snow songs all day. You gotta love that kid!

In the meantime, check out my friend Sue's blog, as she is having a giveaway for some of her wonderful sweater mittens ( just leave a comment letting her know that you found her blog via me). If you don't win, check out Charity's blog as she has some sweater mittens to sell to her blog readers for an awesome price. I love these mittens, they are so toasty.

Good luck!!!!
