All I Want for Christmas....

Dear Cute Guy,

If you happen to be reading our blog (which you had better be doing on a regular basis) I thought I'd make life a little easier for you this Christmas and put together a grouping of items I'm loving and maybe you could pick one (or two, or ten) for my Christmas gift. I should probably warn you that if you ignore such very obvious hints that I will be forced to utilize your credit card on your behalf. I know how much you like to make me happy and I can assure you that any of the items on my wish list would make me happy, very happy, almost as happy as your H2 makes you happy. Remember the car I bought for you (okay, purchased with your credit and then handed you the payment book - which I still consider one of my greatest scams yet).

You've told me before that you'd give me the world if you could, but luckily for you, I don't want the world - I've never really been fond of Ohio, Arkansas or France, so I'd settle for a nice new coat or lovely new pair of boots and purse instead. A bargain at half the price!

Thank you in advance for the wonderful life we life together with our four lively kids and the cutest puppy in the whole world (who secretly I know you love, even if you continue to call him Little Turd when you think I'm not in earshot). I look forward to many more happy years with you.

Fall Frolics

October was a strange month. We had warm weather, fall weather and snowy weather. One reason why I love Wisconsin, you get all the seasons. Luckily for me we just get a lot of my favorite kind - Winter. It's definitely Ethan's too. The moment he sees a snowflake falling he wants to go and play in it. He never tires of it. He'll be as excited about all the snow come April as he is at the beginning of Winter. It's just one more reason why I love this boy to pieces.

Here's another boy I love to pieces. Declan is the best big brother to Ethan. Admittedly sometimes EB's infatuation with Declan can get a bit tiring for him, but usually he handles it well. It was a beautiful fall day so Steve and I sent them outside to rake some leaves, which ended up being what fall leaves should be all about. Leaf piles to jump in. Winston got right into the swing of things and wanted to do his part. At some point, EB hurt his finger. Here's Declan taking good care of his Best Little Bro. Don't you just want to smoosh 'em with kisses and hugs?!

Our Rainbow play set gets playtime all four seasons. It goes from playhouse to snow fort, to water slide to spaceship. Madison is the monkey bar queen and is very proud of the calluses and blisters she displays on her hands for all of her practicing.

I loved this picture of Madison playing in the back yard. It shows how fickle our weather and sunshine can really be!

Our costume bucket was really getting full this year so the kids suggested to me that they'd like to just recycle old costumes (God Bless Them! They're frugal - can't be my kids) Madison wanted to be a vampire Pirate (not sure what that was about, but who was I to complain about FREE), Ethan was a Viking and Declan showed his dad how a 80's costume really should look complete with lots of chest hair. He looked like a cross between George Michael and Sonny Crockett. They loaded up on candy which I wish they'd hide from me so I'd stop eating it while they're at school. My dentist will get very angry with me if I get any cavities.

Our favorite Dentists approach to Halloween candy: let the kids sit down and eat as much as they can the night they get it, have them brush and floss and then throw the rest of the candy away. It's okay if they eat so much that they throw up, their mum will clean that up. (note to self: he may not be my favorite dentist if I'm left cleaning the puke). His other suggestion is going to Favorite Dentists office on the Monday after Halloween and having them buy your candy to send to the military and have them give you lots of gift certificates to your favorite local restaurants and other fun stuff (plus the cash) to bribe you to part with the cavity causing goodies.

Smart guy that dentist of ours, I tell you!

Black Beauty is getting a facelift. It might of had something to do with my swerving to avoid a STUPID car and in the process hitting a concrete post very hard. One bang to the head, one bloody nose, one teeny tiny cut on hand, one beaten up Black Beauty, and one very bruised ego. Hurry home to me sweetie!

We had snow. Lots of it. It's gone now. Unfortunately the now over 21 large and crazy turkeys are still around and tormenting the neighborhood.

Ethan managed to fall out of bed and cut his head open. He didn't cry or complain at all as he got his stitches. He's my hero!

Caleb was in the Wisconsin Mid Level State Honors Choir this past weekend in Madison. 1200 kids auditioned by invitation of their music teachers. 100 kids (50 boys) got in. Hubbub was one of them. It was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately they strictly ban photo taking and filming of any sort of the event, so I can't show you anything. When they first started singing, Steve and I looked at each other in shock. It sounded so professional. We were so proud.

Now, we're moving on to Turkey Month and preparations are already under way for the big Thanksgiving Day. I've already ordered my Turkey (a 22lb one! Woo Hoo!) and am starting to plan the major pie making that will take place. May try to narrow the pie list down to just six pies this year - but probably not.
